It was very cold in Algeria while "The Son of the Sahara" was being filmed.  Upon the casts' arrival in New York from the desert of North Africa, Bert Lytell commented to a reporter that "The man who wrote 'Till the Sands of the Desert Grow Cold' should be shot !"  Listen to the popular waltz on YouTube:
