During the filming of the fire scenes, the players were accidentally trapped at the back of the set, Lew Cody, Claire Windsor, Mae Busch and others had to run for their lives, and through the flames. Miss Windsor’s back was so badly scorched that she had to be taken to the receiving hospital. The story was suppressed at the time. However, Emmett Flynn related it to the writer, the other day, praising Miss Windsor’s bravery and courage under suffering.
"She happened to be the one to suffer most from the flames," said Flynn, "but she never uttered a complaint or a moan, through suffering severely. I have never known a braver girl."
"She was just as fearless in every way during the filming of the railroad scenes and the others where real danger was encountered." Movie Weekly

The Cawker City Ledger
- When Claire Windsor went to New York to film "Nellie, the Beautiful Cloak Model," she was stoned by real gangsters while lying on the tracks of the New York elevated making scenes. The police had to be called to disperse the rowdies. Lew Cody, the villain, slipped and fell on his face in a fire scene, nearly suffocating. Hobart Bosworth ran so close to an ambulance that a wheel ran over his left foot. Mae Busch while riding in a taxicab, collided with a telephone pole; Lillian Tashman fell from a model display stand and cut a deep gash in her legs, which she values at $5000,000.
Is the film worth risking all the lives of the actors?--Contributed.
